Universal remote controls are a dime a dozen these days, and I bought one as a backup to my other remotes. The only problem with these things is that you need to know the codes of the remotes you want to emulate, and these codes are usually in the manual. Of course I tend to lose manuals like pens, so I figured I would input the codes here. If you have a remote for which you know the codes (or a web page that lists them) and are feeling generous, type them up and send me email; I will add them to this page so others can look here if they have lost their code list. Note a lot of these remotes are not really universal - they come with TVs, VCRs, DSS systems, etc. but have some universal capabilities so that they can control various other units in your system.

With codes: Turn on TV. Press and hold CODE SEARCH until all device buttons light, release button. Press TV button. TV button will stay on. Using number keypad enter code for TV. Follow link to code finder service from RCA. It asks for the 1) Remote model, then 2) type of device and finally the 3) model. Up pops the code. I got info from RCA but it talks about using the code search button which my remote doesn't have. Instuctions at RCA's web site talk about pressing the TV button, code button and off button in some order but that did not work. I have the code circled as 3 in our VCR instuctions book but the remote did not come with the TV. I got the info on the radio shack model, but the other is a RCA SystemLink Simple 3, which is the easier of the two for her to use. Does anyone know where I can find the setup codes for this remote?
