If you are anything like me, finding it difficult to stick to a budget is a common problem. For quite a while we have been using a spreadsheet that I created, which worked okay when planning, but it couldn’t keep us updated to where we were during the month.
Features include revert to a past version of budget in a single click, reconciliation wizard lets you reconcile all of your accounts with ease to make sure that YNAB and your account balances. Oh, the other issue is that by default Audible doesn’t show the pdf in the mobile app or the mobile web page, you have to go to the full web page. That’s kind of lame given how likely it is most people only ever look at audible on mobile, so I guess authors need to account for that.

I think I have finally found the app to keep us up-to-date throughout the month. This is a free download, and is only 60.00 if you choose to purchase it after the trial period…I WILL be purchasing this app. It is not as powerful as Microsoft Money/Quicken, but the ease of use matches the needs I have in watching my budget. Reconciling the statements is much easier with YNAB (You Need A Budget) that it is in Microsoft Money / Quicken.

If you are not familiar with budgeting, or how to get started, you may want to read Financial Peace or Total Money Makeover, to get a full understanding. Once you do that, you may want to go through a Financial Peace class locally with others to help keep yourself accountable.

As a follow-up, Dave Ramsey has also teamed up with EveryDollar.com which is also a good resource. I’ve tried them both and prefer YNAB. EveryDollar.com also has a trial period and if you decide to continue would be just under $100 per year. The good thing about this program is that, with the yearly fee, your transactions automatically download to the app. There is a free version as well.
